Letter, 4 June 1944

A letter written by Leslie Neufeld.

Leslie Neufeld was torn between his pacifist Mennonite upbringing and a desire to serve his country. He initially joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, but later volunteered as a parachutist, looking to fight the Germans in the coming invasion of Europe. He wrote this last letter to his family before he was dropped into Normandy.

Leslie Neufeld was one of the 359 Canadian army servicemen killed on D-Day, 6 June 1944.
